James Connolly
The Connolly Youth Movement was founded in the 1960s and is named after Irish marxist and matyr, James Connolly. James Connolly was a working-class man who found inspiration in Marx and Engels and attempted to put their ideas into practice in Ireland. He was executed by the British following the 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland, in which he played a leading role.
The CYM is running "The Working-Class School of Politics" beginning on March 16th at 7.30 p.m. in Connolly Books, 7 Bloom Lane (off the Ormond Quay), Dublin 1. For more information email connollyyouth@hotmail.com.
